Mexico City, Dhu-AlHijjah 4, 1436, Sep 18, 2015, SPA -- The six Mexican tourists wounded in an attack in Egypt arrived home Friday and were taken in stretchers and wheelchairs to hospitals. The five women and one man were lowered from the presidential airplane on mobile platforms. They did not speak to journalists. Mexico’s health secretary, Mercedes Juan, said the victims suffered burns, respiratory problems, shrapnel injuries, or bone fractures in the attack Sunday. She said none of the injured had any bullet wounds. Eight other Mexicans were killed when Egyptian security forces mistakenly attacked their convoy in the western desert. Survivors said the attack was carried out by helicopters and an airplane and involved “bombs” dropped on the tourists’ vehicles. The Mexican Foreign Relations Department updated its travel advisory on Egypt, advising citizens to “reconsider or postpone their plans to travel to Egypt.” --SPA 20:54 LOCAL TIME 17:54 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
