UNITED NATIONS, Dhu-AlQa'dah 16, 1436, Aug 31, 2015, SPA-- The United Nations said Monday that the number of hungry Somalis has risen in the past six months and predicted a further spike as the country braces for the worst flooding in decades. According to a statement from the world body, up to 855,000 people, two-thirds of whom are internally displaced, face a food crisis following a poor cereal harvest caused by an early end to the rainy season. “The country’s humanitarian situation remains alarming,” the U.N. statement said. Somalia experienced a devastating famine in 2011, caused by drought, war, and lack of access to humanitarian aid. --SPA 19:59 LOCAL TIME 16:59 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
