Tokyo, Dhu-AlQa'dah 13, 1436, Aug 28, 2015, SPA -- Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average was up 3 per cent Friday for the third straight day of rise, buoyed by a weaker yen and global rallies, dpa reported. The Nikkei gained 561.88 points, or 3.03 per cent, to end at 19,136.32 while the broader Topix index was up 49.39 points, or 3.29 per cent, at 1549.8. Export-linked stocks were bolstered by the yen's decline against major currencies, as the depreciation of the currency makes Japanese goods more competitive abroad and improves repatriated revenues. As of 3 pm (0600 GMT), the dollar traded at 121.07-10 yen, up from Thursday's 5 pm quote of 120.43-45 yen. The euro was quoted at 136.30-34 yen, up from 136.19-23 yen late Thursday. --SPA 10:36 LOCAL TIME 07:36 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
