JOHANNESBURG, Shawwal 03, 1436, July 19, 2015, SPA -- South Africa's president has been discharged from hospital after a short stay to remove gallstones, according to AP. His office said that President Jacob Zuma was discharged on Sunday after a successful procedure. The statement said Zuma, 73, was admitted on Saturday after gallstones were discovered during a routine medical check-up two months earlier. The operation was scheduled during a cabinet recess. The president would be working and recovering at home and the doctors were pleased with the operation, it added. Zuma has been in power since 2009 and is serving his second term as president. Gallstones form in the bile duct and can cause great pain. --SPA 17:53 LOCAL TIME 14:53 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
