Jeddah, Ramadan 16, 1436, Jul 3, 2015, SPA -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on 2 July 2015 on UN peacekeepers in Mali in which five Burkinabe soldiers were killed and many others soldiers wounded. OIC Secretary General Iyad bin Ameen Madani called on the armed groups in the conflict in northern Mali to immediately end the violence and keep the higher interest of Mali above all considerations. Madani stressed the need for all parties to remain committed to the cease-fire of 23 May, 2014, the declaration for cessation of hostilities of 24 July 2014, the cease fire reached during the Algiers Process, the statement of 19 February 2015 and the latest security arrangements signed in Algiers by the parties on 05 of June 2015. The Secretary General reaffirmed that the success of the peace process rests on the implementation of the peace and reconciliation accord signed in Bamako on 20 June 2015; and that it is the primary responsibility of all Malian parties to restore security, reduce tensions and provocations that could undermine the peace process. Madani expressed the OIC's deep sympathy to Burkina Faso and MINUSMA for the tragic loss and prayed for the recovery of the injured soldiers of peace. --SPA 14:50 LOCAL TIME 11:50 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
