Brussels, Jumada I 15, 1436, Mar 6, 2015, SPA -- The European Union's executive agreed measures Friday to help the bloc's pork industry, which has come under pressure after Russia imposed a ban last year on EU pig products following an outbreak of African swine fever. Relations between Brussels and Moscow have reached their lowest point since the Cold War, due to the crisis in Ukraine. The EU imposed economic sanctions on Russia last year, while most EU agricultural produce has been barred from the country. Moscow says the pork ban is due to last year's disease outbreak, but Brussels has appealed to the World Trade Organization, calling the move unjustified. To help the pork industry, from Monday the European Commission will pay towards the cost of storing pig meat for three to five months, it announced. --SPA 20:11 LOCAL TIME 17:11 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
