Riyadh, Jumada I 1, 1436, Feb 20, 2015, SPA -- Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States, rebuffed recent press reports that inaccurately attributed to him remarks on the GCC-Egyptian ties. In a statement issued by the GCC Secretariat, the GCC states support Egypt under President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi in all fields based on the decisions of Riyadh summit. The GCC states which always stand with Egypt in the face of terrorism, reaffirm that the security and stability of Egypt are part of their own particularly amid the current delicate circumstances in the region and beyond. They back up all security and military measures, adopted by Egypt, to combat terrorism whether at home or abroad, the statement said. They also acknowledge Egypt's right to fight the terrorist groups in Libya and protest its nationals in the wake of the horrible beheading of the 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians there, the statement added, deeming this fight a legitimate act of self-defense. --SPA 10:55 LOCAL TIME 07:55 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
