Athens, Safar 18, 1436, Dec 10, 2014, SPA -- Greek police defused a bomb outside a bank in Athens on Wednesday, after a local newspaper received a warning call. According to dpa, the explosive device, which was placed inside a package, was detonated safely. Police evacuated and cordoned off the area in the suburb of Halandri where the bomb had been placed outside a bank. There was no damage or injuries. An anonymous call to the newspaper Efimerida ton Syntakton said the bomb was in solidarity with self-styled anarchist and convicted bank robber Nikos Romanos. Romanos, who is serving a 10-year jail sentence, was at the scene of the fatal shooting of his friend Alexis Grigoropoulos by a policeman in 2008. The incident sparked weeks of the worst riots in Greece by tens of thousands of youths. --SPA 17:36 LOCAL TIME 14:36 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
