Washington, Safar 03, 1436, November 25, 2014, SPA -- The US economy continued along a strong growth path in the third quarter of 2014, expanding by faster-than-expected 3.9 percent, according to government data issued Tuesday. The US Department of Commerce said the third quarter growth rate climbed from an initial estimate in October of 3.5 percent because of greater consumer and business spending, dpa reported. After April-June growth of 4.6 per cent on an annualized basis, the US economy has now delivered its strongest consecutive quarters since the second half of 2003. The six-month surge in gross domestic product (GDP) followed a contraction of 2.1 percent in the first quarter, after a harsh winter and unusual fluctuations in business inventories. -- SPA 17:53 LOCAL TIME 14:53 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
