Dhaka, Muharram 24, 1436, November 17, 2014, SPA -- A ship carrying more than 600 people was seized by the Bangladeshi Navy Monday as it attempted to illegally transport its passengers to Malaysia, dpa quoted officials as saying. The passenger boat was intercepted about 75 kilometres away from Bangladesh's southernmost point, Saint Martin's Island, in the Bay of Bengal, Lieutenant Commander Mostafa Kamal told local media. "The passenger ship was being brought to shore," Kamal said. Around 90 per cent of the migrants are believed to be Bangladeshi nationals, while the others could be Rohingya from neighbouring Myanmar, Kamal said. The migrants' destination was Malaysia, he added. -- SPA 20:59 LOCAL TIME 17:59 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
