Paris, Muharram 06, 1436, October 30, 2014, SPA -- The situation in eastern Ukraine is not yet stable enough for France to hand over the first of two warships ordered by Russia, French Finance Minister Michel Sapin said Thursday, according to dpa. "As of today, the conditions have not been fulfilled," Sapin told RTL radio, contradicting Russia's claims Wednesday that a November 14 date had been set for the handover ceremony at Saint-Nazaire shipyard. Russia had been scheduled to take possession of the 22,000-tonne Vladivostok in late October or early November, but President Francois Hollande suspended the delivery in September over the conflict in Ukraine. Hollande set out two conditions for the release of the vessel to Russia: The full implementation of a September ceasefire between the Ukrainian army and pro-Russian rebels and a political settlement to the conflict. Sapin said France was waiting for a further de-escalation and for Russia to "play a positive role." --SPA 11:48 LOCAL TIME 08:48 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
