Geneva, Jumada I 23, 1437, Mar 3, 2016, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has used the right of reply in the Human Rights Council in reference to points raised in the speeches of the Dutch and Danish delegations relating to human rights and their promotion, as well as to the death penalty. Saudi ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva Ambassador Faisal Trad said: "The Kingdom, a founding member of the United Nations and Human Rights Council of which it has been a member for the past nine years, is keen on protecting and promoting human rights in accordance with the tolerant Islamic Sharia. Therefore, any insinuating reference to partiality, unfairness, or capital punishment of the judiciary system is rejected and unacceptable," and he called on all in the Human Rights Council to respect the choices of the Saudi society. With regard to the Syrian representative, ambassador Trad explained before the council that the world has seen over the past five years the repetition of the same allegations and fabrications of a regime which the international community almost unanimously agreed on its lack of legitimacy. He stressed that any fair-minded person briefed on the report of the International Commission of Inquiry on Syria will be horrified of the sheer size of crimes against humanity this regime and its associates have committed against the Syrian people. The Saudi ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva said: " the Kingdom has made every effort in support of a political solution regarding the Syrian issue, but we will not wait forever: more than enough is the killing of more than 300 thousand people and the displacement of more than 10 million people," pointing out that the suffering of the Syrian people has to end by peace or force. --SPA 18:38 LOCAL TIME 15:38 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
