Washington, Jumada I 22, 1437, March 2, 2016, SPA -- U.S. businesses added a more-than-expected 214,000 jobs in February, a report by a payrolls processor showed Wednesday in another sign the job market remains resilient despite economic weakness overseas and turmoil in financial markets. ADP said gains in January were revised lower to 193,000 from an originally reported 205,000 increase. In February, professional and business services firms added 59,000 jobs, and construction companies hired 27,000. But manufacturers cut 9,000 jobs, the first contraction in the sector since October. The ADP figures come ahead of the U.S. government’s more comprehensive payrolls report Friday, which includes both public- and private-sector employment. Economists expect between 190,000 and 195,000 jobs were created last month, and the unemployment rate remained steady at 4.9 percent, an eight-year low. --SPA 18:10 LOCAL TIME 15:10 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
