North Thunder Drill Launched in Saudi Arabia's Northern Region

Riyadh, Jumada I 18, 1437, Feb 27, 2016, SPA -- 'North Thunder' military drill was launched today in the Northern Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the participation of forces representing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, Senegal, Sudan, Kuwait, Maldives, Morocco, Pakistan, Chad, Turkey, Tunisia, Comoros, Djibouti, Oman, Qatar, Malaysia, Egypt and Mauritania, in addition to the Peninsula Shield Forces. The 'North Thunder' is the largest military drill in the world in terms of the number of participating forces as well as the breadth of the maneuver area. Therefore, it receives attention on regional and international levels. The North Thunder drill focuses on training forces on how to deal with terrorist groups and how to transfer from traditional operations to low-intensity operations. North Thunder drill comes in light of the growing terrorist threats as well as the political and security instability in the region.
