Mexico City, Muharram 10, 1437, Oct 23, 2015, SPA -- Hurricane Patricia was moving towards Mexico's Pacific coast and was expected to make landfall late Friday near the popular tourist destination Puerto Vallarta, and preparations were underway in several states, dpa reported. In Guerrero, classes were suspended Thursday. Patricia was "intensifying quickly," according to the Miami-based US National Hurricane Centre (NHC). On Thusday, with sustained winds of 150 kilometres per hour and higher gusts, it was a category one hurricane on the five-level Saffir-Simpson scale. It was located about 375 kilometres off the Mexican port of Lazaro Cardenas and was moving west at a speed of 28 kilometres per hour. The hurricane is expected to cause heavy rain, and there is a risk of flooding and mudslides in certain areas. In the state of Guerrero, several people were evacuated in the city of Chilpancingo over the risk of a mudslide, Civil Protection said. -- SPA 01:25 LOCAL TIME 22:25 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
