Following the meeting, the two foreign ministers held a joint press conference, stressing depth of distinguished relations between the two countries. For his part, the Malaysian foreign minister lauded his country's relations with the Kingdom, stressing necessity to enhance dialogue between the two countries through exchanging visits. He also pointed out that Malaysia aims to continue cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of combating extremism and terrorism, confirming that the two countries exchange information regularly on preventing the spread of extremism. The Malaysian foreign minister added that the two sides discussed the situations in Yemen, Syria and the Palestinian cause in addition to issues of common interest. For his part, Adel bin Ahmad Al-Jubeir, Minister of Foreign Affairs, stressed that the two countries share identical viewpoints regarding a number of issues, lauding achievements carried out by Malaysia which represents a multicultural community that lives in harmony. Al-Jubeir pointed out that there are about 1,500 Saudi students in Malaysia representing a bridge of communication between the two countries, highlighting the need for concerted efforts of the Islamic world to counter extremist ideologies and reject sectarianism and violence in the Islamic world.
