Jeddah, Rabi'I 14, 1436, Jan 5, 2015, SPA -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas opened in the presence of Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad bin Amin Madani in Ramallah today Al-Quds in Memory Exhibition in Ramallah organized by the Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), and the Palestinian Ministry of Culture. This step is part of initiatives by the organization to support the identity of City of Al-Quds and its Arab and Islamic roots in the face of Judaization imposed by the occupation authorities on the holy city and its people. In his speech before the audience of exhibition, Madani said the organization is working in this current month of January to arrange for the group of foreign ministers of the OIC member states to visit a number of capitals of influential countries in order to convey the organization's message and its demands concerning the Palestinian issue and Al-Quds, pointing out that the mission of this team has become more urgent in light of the recent vote by the UN Security Council on a draft resolution to end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories. While declaring Al-Quds as the capital of Islamic tourism for 2015, he noted that this goal cannot be achieved without Muslims visiting Al-Quds in tens of thousands, revealing his intention to invite the Ministers of Tourism of Palestine and Jordan to meet with him to work out a plan to connect travel agencies in both countries as a prelude to enhance the tourist destination of Al-Quds and its Islamic holy sites. President Abbas praised in his speech the invitation of the Secretary General to visit Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa. --SPA 13:16 LOCAL TIME 10:16 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
