Berlin, Safar 6, 1436, Nov 28, 2014, SPA -- Unemployment in the 18-member eurozone held steady at 11.5 per cent for the third month in a row in October as the region's weak growth rate failed to boost hiring, data released Friday showed. According to dpa, the number of those out of work in the currency bloc stood at 18.395 million in October after another 60,000 people lost their jobs during the month, the European Union Statistics Office Eurostat said. Greece and Spain once again had the highest unemployment rates in Europe despite a pickup in economic growth in both nations led to a slight fall in jobless queues. Unemployment in Spain stood at 24 per cent in October (down from 24.1 per cent in September) and 25.9 per cent in Greece in August, the latest available figures. Greece's jobless rate came in at 26.1 per cent in July. The lowest jobless rates were in Germany (4.9 per cent) and Austria (5.1 per cent), the data showed. Youth unemployment in the eurozone also fell again in October to 23.5 per cent after 141,000 people under the age of 25 found work. The youth unemployment rate stood at 24 per cent in the same month last year. --SPA 14:28 LOCAL TIME 11:28 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
