Lagos, Dhu-AlHijjah 25, 1435, October 19, 2014, SPA -- Suspected Boko Haram members sprayed two villages in north-eastern Nigeria with gunfire at the weekend, hours after a ceasefire between the extremist group and the government was announced, residents and a military official said, according to dpa. About 20 Boko Haram fighters drove into Maikadiri in northern Borno State on trucks Friday night and began "shooting into residents' homes," said the military official who requested anonymity. A member of a local protection force, Adam Kolo, said by telephone that Boko Haram operates freely in the town and its attack shows there is no ceasefire. Eight people were also killed in an attack Saturday in Shaffa in the south of Borno, in which Boko Haram militants rode into the village, shooting indiscriminately, resident Elijah Msheliza said. --SPA 12:08 LOCAL TIME 09:08 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
