Washington, Dhu-AlHijjah 9, 1435, Oct 3, 2014, SPA -- Mexican authorities said that electrical service has been restored to 100 percent of users in Baja California Sur state 17 days after Hurricane Odile caused massive power outages. The affected region included the Los Cabos resort area, which sustained heavy damage from a direct hit by the category-3 hurricane last month. The Los Cabos international airport reportedly is set to return to normal flight operations on Friday. Mexico’s Federal Electricity Commission said the storm damaged 534 transmission towers, more than 1,350 transformers, 108 circuits, and nearly 8,000 electrical poles, leaving 95 percent of customers in the state without power. The agency said in a statement late Thursday that Odile caused more damage to Mexican electrical infrastructure than any other storm, including powerful Hurricane Wilma in 2005. --SPA 21:57 LOCAL TIME 18:57 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
