GENEVA/PORT-AU-PRINCE (6 February 2023) – UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk will conduct a two-day official mission to Haiti starting on Wednesday, 8 February, at the invitation of the Government. During the visit, the High Commissioner will meet senior Government officials, the country’s Ombudsperson, State Security officials, representatives of the judiciary, as well as members of civil society organizations and victims of human rights violations in Port-au-Prince. Türk will also visit Ouanaminthe in the northeast of the country, where he will meet with local authorities and civil society organizations. At the end of his mission on 10 February, the High Commissioner is scheduled to hold a news conference in Port-au-Prince at approximately 09:00 local time. Access to the news conference will be strictly limited to accredited media.
