Deputy Defense Minister Meets Yemeni Prime Minister

Riyadh, December 20, 2021, SPA -- Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense, has met with Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalek Saeed. During the meeting, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s efforts and initiatives aimed at realizing security, stability and peace in Yemen, in addition to several issues of mutual interest were reviewed. Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz stressed the commitment of the coalition, under the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to supporting the Yemeni government and people and pushing forward all efforts to reach a political solution in Yemen based on the three references, which can realize the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people and maintain the security of the region, renewing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s permanent position on supporting the Yemeni government in facing the insurgency and coup of the Iran-backed Houthi militia, and maintaining the unity, security and stability of Yemen. During the meeting, the prince also stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia monitors the difficult economic conditions of the Yemeni people, and welcomes the recent decisions made by the Yemeni government in the Central Bank of Yemen and tasking the Central Organization for Control and Audit (COCA) to assess and review the work of the bank in a way that contributes to improving the financial status of Yemen, where moving forwards with the economic reform steps will contribute to increasing the economic support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the international community, in a bid to encourage other donors to participate in supporting the Yemeni government for the interests of the Yemeni people. For his part, the Yemeni Prime Minister praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continuous support in all fields, stressing that Saudi Arabia’s support to the Central Bank of Yemen has had a big impact on the stability of the Yemeni currency and the economic situation and the availability of foodstuff to improve the living conditions of the Yemeni people, adding that the fuel derivatives grant has also contributed to the sustainability of power supplies and alleviating the financial burdens of the Yemeni government and that the Yemeni government counts on the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and donors in Gulf Cooperation Council for Arab States or the international community due to the dire need of the Yemeni economy, especially for the role of such assistance in developing the economic conditions and alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.
