Riyadh, October 25, 2021, SPA -- Shura Council's Human Rights Committee, headed by Council Member Dr. Hadi bin Ali Al-Yami, has held a meeting in Riyadh with Human Rights Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Netherlands Bahia Tahzib-Lie, within the framework of her official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Hadi Al-Yami, briefed the Kingdom of Netherlands’ side on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to promote human rights, highlighting Shura Council’s mechanism of action and the roles it plays in accordance with its oversight and legislative competences. He also pointed to the aspects of empowering women in the parliamentary work of the council. For her part, Ambassador Bahia Tahzib-Lie praised the new legislation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced by HRH Crown Prince, expressing admiration for the achievements of Saudi women, the efforts to empower them, as well as Saudi women’s participation in decision-making. She commended the great interest and development with regard to human rights in Saudi Arabia.
