Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission Concludes Saudi Translation Forum

Riyadh, December 04, 2021, SPA -- The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission concluded on Friday the Saudi Translation Forum at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education in the capital Riyadh. The two-day forum held on Thursday and Friday hosted eight engaging panel discussions that included the participation of more than 20 speakers from Saudi Arabia and abroad. It also offered interactive workshops that presented new tools and techniques in the fields of literary translation, news translation, political translation, and language interpretation, where trainees in the workshops had the opportunity to meet with local and international translation experts. At the closing session of the forum, a number of recommendations were presented to support the sector, including the necessity of holding the forum annually and introducing other skills to the translation sector, raising the students’ ambition in order to reach the required level of professionalism, in addition to supporting businesses and events such as conferences and meetings specialized in the field of translation. The participants in the session stressed that the existing initiatives confirm that the sector is able to continue to grow after taking recommendations in order to contribute to organizing and shaping the upcoming courses, with the cooperation of the concerned authorities. They also stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is living a golden age in all fields, including cultural and literary, noting that translation is a part from these two fields.
