Riyadh, Oct 28, 2020, SPA -- King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) virtually signed today a joint agreement with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to implement a project to provide emergency services for women and girls affected by gender-based violence in Yemen. The agreement was signed by KSrelief Supervisor General Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah and the UNFPA's Deputy Executive Director for Management Ib Petersen. The agreement aims to help women and girls who are survivors of gender-based violence to reintegrate into society, providing them with psychological and social support through a range of services. It also aims to help strengthen protection mechanisms for women and girls in Yemen to prevent and limit the spread of gender-based violence. The agreement includes vocational and professional training programs to empower at-risk women and girls by enhancing their skills and capabilities. The project will provide support to 28,640 women and girls from the governorates of Aden, Shabwah, Lahij, Al Mahrah, Ma'rib and Hadramawt. This agreement is part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive support to the Yemeni people. --SPA 18:59 LOCAL TIME 15:59 GMT 0011 www.spa.gov.sa/w1437916
