Saudi Arabia virtually hosts the first ever international standards summit

Riyadh, Nov 04, 2020, SPA – Dr. Majed bin Abdullah Al-Gasabi, Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Standards, metrology and quality organization, today virtually opened the International Standards Summit, as part of the international conferences programs held on the fringes of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s current presidency of the G20, 2020. In a key address, Dr. Al-Gasabi said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has, since assuming the presidency of the G20, sought to achieve serious steps in collaboration and partnership with its international partners to put all issues and challenges on the debate table, aiming to reach inventive and creative solutions and visions to the challenges and crises facing the international economy and find effective ways to enhance international trade and industry. We have succeeded to launch the first of its kind event on the fringes of the meetings of the G20 during the Kingdom’s presidency to discuss the role of national and international standardization, in enhancing the industrial, economic and social abilities to draw a better future, he said, adding that thanks to the advanced infrastructure of the country, the Saudi authorities have experienced an unprecedented example of dealing with crises and problems facing the economy through a concerted governmental and private sector efforts to overcome the spread of coronavirus COVID-19 during which digital transformation has played an effective role to provide the public with distinguished services during tough times.
