Riyadh, Aug. 10, 2021, SPA -- The Saudi Accreditation Center (SAC) has won a global certificate of recognition from the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), granted through the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC), for demonstrating competence in accreditation of testing and calibration laboratories and inspection bodies. This global accreditation certificate supports the Kingdom's signing of bilateral and multilateral trade agreements which require an international recognition of the national quality infrastructure services, SAC said in a statement today. SAC also said that the new global recognition means that its conformity certificates have become internationally recognized, immensely contributing to increasing trade exchange and ensuring smooth flow of goods to and from the international market. Minister of Commerce, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, who is also Chairman of the SAC Board of Directors, highlighted the importance of the international recognition from ILAC in supporting the national infrastructure for quality in enhancing the Kingdom's regional and global status, expressing gratitude for the limitless support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince in this regard. For his part, CEO of SAC Dr. Adel Alkeaid also underlined the contributions of the new global recognition towards increasing trade exchange and national exports through delivering locally, regionally and globally recognized services in implementation of the Saudi Vision 2030. The new international achievement is the culmination of the center’s efforts during the 12-month peer review process carried out by a team of global evaluators who verified the conformity of the SAC's accreditation standards with the requirements and international standards of the ISO/IEC 17011 as well as the adequacy and effectiveness of its legislative and management systems and the quality of the services of the SAC-accredited bodies. --SPA 21:06 LOCAL TIME 18:06 GMT 0032 www.spa.gov.sa/w1599129
