Amman, Jun 21, 2020, SPA -- Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi made a phone call today to Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry. During the phone conversation, they discussed the regional developments and mechanisms to address them to serve Arab issues and achieve regional security and stability. The ministers affirmed their "firm" position in rejecting Israel's annexation of Palestinian lands in violation of international law, a step that would undermine the chances of achieving a just peace. The ministers reviewed developments in efforts to reach an agreement on the Renaissance Dam. Safadi stressed the importance of shunning any "unilateral" steps to fill the dam and the need to reach an agreement that preserves Egypt's rights in the Nile waters and the rights of all parties in accordance with international law. Moreover, the ministers discussed developments related to the Libyan crisis and the efforts made to find a political solution to the standoff. The ministers stressed the necessity of orchestrating all efforts to solve the Libyan crisis politically with the agreement of the Libyan parties to the crisis as soon as possible. They said this solution should guarantee Libya's security, stability, sovereignty, territorial integrity and the interests of its people in accordance with the approved references, namely the Skhirat Agreement, the Berlin Conference and the Cairo Agreement consistent with the outputs of the Berlin Conference. Safadi said Jordan fully supports Egypt in facing any threat to its security and stability, as "Egypt's security is Jordan's security and a pillar of security and stability for the entire region." --SPA 21:01 LOCAL TIME 18:01 GMT 0019 www.spa.gov.sa/w1354652
