Geneva, Dhul-Hijjah 28, 1438 H., Sep 19, 2017, SPA -- The Arab Federation for Human Rights "AFHR" calls upon the United Nations Human Rights Council "UNHRC" to add the case of Qatari tribe of Al-Ghufran to its agenda and to intervene urgently to stop the Qatari government's violations to the rights of Al-Ghufran Qatari tribe's members. This came during a symposium organized by AFHR at the UNHRC headquarters in Geneva titled: "International Human Rights Groups and Al-Ghufran Tribe". AFHR Chairman Mohammad and Saleh Al Marri denied the Qatari policies against the tribe members. He said: "It is strange that the Qatari government supports armed terrorist groups that destabilize all countries in the region while it stops the support and rights of the Qatari people." "It is totally unacceptable for Qatar to grant citizenship to different non-Qatari people and withdraw citizenship from its people, a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms," he confirmed. For his part, the President of the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights Hafez Abu Saada stressed the need to submit the case to the UNHRC, demanding the Qatari government to correct the status of the tribe members and non-discrimination which is prohibited by the international law. --SPA 21:24 LOCAL TIME 18:24 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w491457
