Islamabad, Shawwal 8, 1438, Jul 2, 2017, SPA -- At least six people were killed and 20 others injured when a passenger van caught fire before hitting an electricity pole in southern Pakistan on Sunday evening, officials said. The incident, apparently caused by a short circuit, took place near the southern city of Multan in Punjab province. The injured have been moved to nearby hospital for treatment, police official Shahid Shah told dpa. The van was carrying 28 passengers all from the same family, Shah said. Of the 20 people receiving medical treatment, seven have burn injuries, Nishtar hospital employee Saleem Ahmend said. Fatal traffic accidents are common in Pakistan due to poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving. --SPA 23:47 LOCAL TIME 20:47 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w439109
