Delhi, Safar 20, 1438, Nov 20, 2016, SPA -- At least 30 people are dead after an Indian passenger train derailed Sunday in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, dpa cited Indian media reports as saying. The incident - which saw at least 14 carriages derail - took place around 3 am (2130 GMT Saturday) near the area of Pukhrayan on the Patna-Indore express route, according to the Times of India newspaper. A rescue operation is underway to retrieve trapped survivors, but the death toll is expected to rise, emergency authorities said.
