Washington, Dhu-AlQa'dah 15, 1437, August 18, 2016, SPA -- US President Barack Obama will travel to the Group of 20 summit next month in China and then will be the first US president to visit Laos, the White House said Thursday, according to dpa. The September 2-9 trip is among Obama's final international forays as president before he leaves office on January 20 at the end of two four-year terms in which he has sought to focus US foreign policy on Asia. The G20 summit in Hangzhou will be the last for Obama, and he will point to progress made since the 2008 financial crisis and since he took office nearly eight years ago, calling for continued global economic progress and "a level playing field and broad-based economic opportunity." Obama will hold meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping. During the first US presidential visit to Laos, Obama will attend the US-ASEAN Summit and the East Asian Summit and hold meetings with President Bounnhang Vorachith and other officials. --SPA 22:05 LOCAL TIME 19:05 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
