Islamabad, 28 Ramadan,1437 AH, 03 July,2016 , SPA -- Flash floods triggered by heavy monsoon rains swept away a mosque and several houses in northern Pakistan, killing more than 30 people, officials said Sunday, according to dpa. The overnight floods hit the district of Chitral, a mountainous area near the border with Afghanistan, at about midnight. Rescuers from the military and civilian agencies were trying to reach victims in Chitral but bad weather was hampering the relief efforts, district administrator Maghfirat Shah said. Six people were killed in the town of Haripur, in the same region, as the roof of a house caved in on Sunday, rescue official Yousaf Zia said. Three of the dead in Haripur were Chinese engineers working on a hydel power project in the north-western province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, provincial minister Shah Farman said. -- SPA 13:26 LOCAL TIME 10:26 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
