Riyadh, Rabi'I 16, 1438, Dec 15, 2016, SPA -- The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani stressed the position of the GCC member against terrorism, pointing out that the member states have condemned the crime of bombing St. Mark Cathedral, in Cairo on December 12, 2016, asserting solidarity and standing by sisterly Egypt, in its efforts to combat terrorist organizations, as the security of Egypt is considered a part and parcel of the security of the GCC countries. On the other hand, the Secretary-General expressed concern of the GCC member states over involvement of the State of Qatar, the member state of the GCC, in the details of this heinous crime, calling it unacceptable and warning of that rushing to announce statements without checking them, would affect the purity of the close ties between the GCC member states and the Arab Republic of Egypt, underscoring the need to communicate in such security issues, only according to official channels for accuracy, before the publication of data or statements related to terrorist offenses, to evade damaging Arab-Arab relations. -- SPA 23:10 LOCAL TIME 20:10 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w291724
