Antananarivo, Safar 27, 1438, Nov 27, 2016, SPA -- The world's francophone countries have pledged to create a united front against terrorism at the International Organisation of the Francophonie summit in Madagascar capital of Antananarivo on Sunday, dpa reported. Heads of state attending the meeting pledged to "set up a Francophone network for the prevention of radicalization in order to exchange and disseminate good practices," the organisation said in a resolution. No further details were provided on the operations of the proposed network. Member countries "pay a heavy price in the face of this asymmetric threat of terrorism," Francophonie Secretary General Michaelle Jean told the press. "Greater sharing of our experiences, resources and information is necessary." The summit adopted 13 resolutions on various subjects such as gender equality, linguistic diversity and child marriage. They also adopted resolutions on the political situations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi and the Central African Republic. While the organization has 57 member states and 23 observer countries, only 20 heads of state travelled to Madagascar for the two-day meeting. French President Francois Hollande attended the summit but left without attending Sunday's planned press conference. Still, the organization added four new members: New Caledonia is now an associate member, while Argentina, South Korea and the Canadian province of Ontario are now observer members. -- SPA 21:49 LOCAL TIME 18:49 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w278043
