OIC to Organize Forum at the United Nations on Anti-Muslim Discrimination

Jeddah, Rabi'II 17, 1438, Jan 15, 2017, SPA -- The OIC Permanent Observer Mission to the United Nations in New York will jointly host with the Permanent Missions of Canada, the United States, and the Delegation of the European Union, a forum on combating anti-Muslim discrimination and hatred on January 17, 2017. The day-long event at the UN Headquarters will feature high-level speakers as well as three interactive panels examining the rise of anti-Muslim discrimination and hatred globally from the perspective of governmental, non-governmental and private sector representatives, and providing recommendations for effective responses addressing this challenge in the future. The topics for the forum's three panels are: Government Policies to Combat Anti-Muslim Discrimination and Hatred; Civil Society Coalition-Building; and Positive Narratives to Promote Pluralism and Inclusion. High level representatives from the host missions will deliver remarks. The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres will participate via pre-recorded video.
