Washington, Dhu-AlQa'dah 02, 1437, August 05, 2016, SPA -- The US House of Representatives will not vote on a 12-nation Asia-Pacific trade deal this year, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan said Friday, according to dpa. "We don't even have the votes for it," Ryan told local broadcaster WISN in an interview when asked directly whether he would bring the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal up for a vote. "I don't see any way in which that would be done, because (President Barack Obama) would have to change the TPP in some substantial ways, and I just don't see that happening." The fate of the trade deal pushed by Obama has been uncertain amid rising anti-trade sentiment in the United States as both Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton have spoken against it. Obama defended the deal earlier this week after meeting with Sinagpore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and expressed confidence that he can get the deal approved by Congress later this year.
