Beijing, Ramadan 14, 1437, June 19, 2016, SPA -- China issued a national yellow alert Sunday for heavy rain after at least 22 people died and more than a dozen went missing in rainstorms this month. China uses a four-tier, colour-coded system for inclement weather, with red being the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue, dpa reported. Rainstorms are expected to hit most parts of the country, with precipitation expected to reach 200 millimeters in some areas, the National Meteorological Centre said on its website. The centre urged people to take precautions against possible floods and landslides, and suggested staying indoors if possible. In the latest reported incident, nine villagers in the Chinese autonomous region of Tibet were buried in a landslide late Friday when they took shelter from rain in a cave. One injured villager has been pulled out so far, and rescue operations were continuing. At least 14 people died and 16 were missing after heavy rain and hailstorms earlier this month triggered flash floods and landslides across China. --SPA 18:05 LOCAL TIME 15:05 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
