Kinshasa, Dhu-AlHijjah 14, 1437, Sep 16, 2016, SPA -- Congo will vaccinate 306,639 people against cholera, which has killed more than 500 people in the central African country this year, the UN World Health Organization (WHO) said on Friday. The vaccination campaign will target Kinshasa province in an attempt to prevent the disease from spreading to the capital, which has an estimated 10 million residents, dpa reported. More than 18,000 cases of cholera, including more than 500 deaths, have been registered around Congo this year, the WHO said earlier this month. Cholera is an acute diarrhoeal infection caused by ingestion of contaminated food or water. --SPA 21:14 LOCAL TIME 18:14 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
