Paris, Shawwal 09, 1437, July 14, 2016, SPA -- France's state of emergency should not continue past July 26, President Francois Hollande said during a TV interview Thursday, arguing that the exceptional condition could not be maintained indefinitely. The state of emergency was set in place after terrorist attacks in Paris in November that left 130 dead. The terror warning was extended several times, most recently through July 26 so that it could be in place during the Euro 2016 football tournament and the Tour de France bicycle race. Hollande said the exceptional state was no longer necessary since France had recently passed an anti-terrorism law that gives authorities greater powers to search residences and detain suspects when there are suspicions of terrorist activity. --SPA 19:18 LOCAL TIME 16:18 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
