Johannesburg, Rajab 17, 1437, Apr 24, 2016, SPA -- Uganda will build a pipeline to transport its oil through Tanzania, rejecting the possibility of another route through Kenya, the newspaper Saturday Monitor reported. President Yoweri Museveni announced the decision at an East African summit in Kampala on Saturday, dpa reported. The president said the 1,400-kilometre pipeline would pass from Hoima in western Uganda to the Tanzanian port of Tanga. The 4-billion-dollar project will be funded by the French oil giant Total, which has been licensed to operate in Uganda together with Britain's Tullow Oil and China National Offshore Oil Corporation, Saturday Monitor reported. The project will be the first major oil pipeline in eastern Africa. Uganda's oil reserves are estimated at about 6.5 billion barrels. -- SPA 00:36 LOCAL TIME 21:36 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
