Paris, Sha'ban 23, 1437, May 30, 2016, SPA -- Waves of rain which targeted Roland Garros from dawn on Monday forced an early afternoon cancellation of all play at the French Open, the first total washout in 16 years at the event, according to dpa. The last time the clay major lost a day to the weather was exactly 16 years ago on Tuesday May 30, 2000. But new tournament director Guy Forget, only three months into his job, said that despite the interruption at the fourth-round stage, the 15-day event could still finish on time by Sunday, weather permitting. "Tomorrow should be better, and I'm pretty sure we can play some matches," the former player said of a forecast which looks much like that of Monday with steady rain and chill temperatures under 20 Celsius. --SPA 22:24 LOCAL TIME 19:24 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
