United Nations, Rabi'I 25, 1437, Jan 5, 2016, SPA -- Members of the UN Security Council have strongly condemned the attacks on the Saudi Embassy in Tehran and its Consulate in Mashhad, Iran, leading to their storming and inflicting serious damage to them. In a press release last night, the Security Council's members pointed to the principles of the inviolability of diplomatic and consular premises and the obligations of host governments to take all appropriate measures to protect those places against any intrusion and the prevention of what may disturb the peace of these missions. In this context, and with their announcement of deep concern about such attacks, members of the Security Council called on Iranian authorities to protect the staff and property of diplomatic and consular missions with the full respect of their international obligations in this regard. The members of the Security Council also called on all parties to continue the dialogue and take steps to ease tensions in the region. --SPA 12:50 LOCAL TIME 09:50 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
