Riyadh, Rajab 9, 1437, Apr 16, 2016, SPA -- Official statistics confirmed that buildings, ground transportation and industry consume a combined 90% of total energy consumption, in the Kingdom, which summoned the Saudi program for energy efficiency, to preparae and design a range of activities, consistent with the terms of reference of the Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency action, aimed at rationalizing and raising the efficiency of consumption, in these sectors. This growing consumption is a result of what the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia witnesses of rapid economic and population growth, during the past twenty years, which led to a rise in domestic energy consumption to very high rates, causing an increase in energy waste, which form an energy domestic consumption of 38 % of the total Saudi production of oil and gas products. Continued growth of this annual consumption rate of between 4-5% in the coming years, will double the current level by the year 2030, unless measures to rationalize, raise the efficiency of consumption and improve production efficiency, are taken and applied. Establishment of the Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency shows that the state's interest to find practical solutions to address this waste, tops the list of tasks of the Centre in the "National Program for Rationalize, Raise Efficiency of Energy Consumption" in coordination with as many as 30 government institutions and the private the sector, to ensure its implementation, according to the work methodology based on the compatibility between various relevant authorities, while maintaining the terms of reference. -- SPA 23:31 LOCAL TIME 20:31 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
