Brussels, Jumada II 05, 1437, March 14, 2016, SPA -- Peruvian and EU citizens visiting one another's territories will from this week no longer require visas, under an agreement signed Monday, according to dpa. The visa waiver will come into force on Tuesday, granting visa-free travel for EU citizens to Peru and for Peruvians visiting the bloc for stays of up to 90 days. It follows a similar deal signed three months ago with Colombia. The move is expected to boost tourism and business opportunities between the European Union and Peru. "This agreement and the one signed with Colombia only a few months ago show how close we feel to Latin America," said EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini. "We share so much culture, so many interests and values - and today we make the friendship between our peoples even easier," she added. Peruvian President Ollanta Humala, who attended the signing ceremony in Brussels, said the agreement is an important symbol of confidence in Peru, "a country that in the last 15 years has consolidated its democratic values, ... its economic stability and judicial security." --SPA 22:29 LOCAL TIME 19:29 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
