United Nations, Rabi'II 24, 1437, February 03, 2016, SPA -- The Permanent mission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations organized a ceremony on the occasion of the "International Year of Light", with the cooperation of UNESCO. In remarks at the ceremony held on Tuesday, Saudi Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Mua'alami stressed the importance of this cultural event, pointing out that the last year ceremony highlighted the significant role played by the Arab-Muslim scholar Al-Hassan bin Al-Haitham, about a thousand years ago, in the development of the basic rules of the optics.
