New York, Rabi'II 24, 1437, February 03, 2016, SPA -- North Korea should scrap its plan to launch a satellite later this month, a spokesman for UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said Wednesday, echoing concerns voiced by the country's neighbours in response to the announcement, according to dpa. The United Nations said Tuesday that North Korea had notified UN agencies that it was launching an "Earth observation satellite" between February 8 and 25, less than a month after the reclusive regime's controversial nuclear test. "The secretary general believes that it is important for [North Korea] to refrain from using ballistic missile technology and to work for peace and stability on the Korean peninsula," said Farhan Haq, Ban's deputy spokesman. --SPA 22:16 LOCAL TIME 19:16 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
