Seoul, Muharram 10, 1437, Oct 23, 2015, SPA -- The South Korean economy expanded by around 1.2 per cent in the third quarter from the previous quarter, the most since 2010, amid a rebound in domestic demand, dpa quoted the central bank as saying Friday. Growth in the second quarter in Asia's fourth-largest economy had been depressed to 0.3 per cent from the previous quarter by the outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), a drought and a contraction in exports, Yonhap News Agency reported. From the same period a year earlier, the economy was up 2.6 per cent in the third quarter, up from 2.2-per-cent year-on-year growth in the second quarter, it said. The rebound was due to consumer spending picking up again as fears around MERS receded, and to increased investment in construction, the report cited the central bank as saying. --SPA 10:46 LOCAL TIME 07:46 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
