Manila, Muharram 8, 1437, Oct 21, 2015, SPA -- The death toll in a powerful storm that battered the northern Philippines rose to 58, with nearly half a million people displaced, dpa cited disaster relief officials as saying Wednesday. Most of the fatalities were either drowned in floods, buried in landslides, or hit by trees or walls brought down by typhoon Koppu. Koppu has weakened into a low pressure area since it slammed into the country's north-eastern coast on Sunday, and was blowing out of the Philippines.
