Berlin, Ramadan 11, 1436, June 28, 2015, SPA -- The privately operated SpaceX rocket carrying supplies to the International Space Station broke up after take-off on Sunday. SpaceX owner Elon Musk tweeted: "Falcon 9 experienced a problem shortly before first stage shutdown. We will provide more info as soon as we review the data." SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket and unmanned Dragon spacecraft lifted off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, with Dragon expected to arrive at the ISS two days later. "The vehicle has broken up," NASA posted on Twitter, earlier saying that "something went wrong with the launch." NASA also said that "it is not clear what happened or at what pointthe vehicle failed." The Dragon spacecraft was carrying more than 1,800 kilogrammes of supplies, including material for research investigations. It was also supposed to deliver the first International Docking Adapter to enable future commercial crew vehicles to dock to the ISS. After five weeks, it was to return with crew supplies, hardware, science experiments and trash. --SPA 20:46 LOCAL TIME 17:46 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
